Freethinking Renegade Awareness Month Continues

Montreal, Canada August 08, 2012

As FTRNation.com continues to celebrate the official launch of Freethinking Renegade Awareness Month they are excited to see the nation take responsibility for life matters that cause stress. Last week the public was encouraged to take part in a 3 part blog/video series on obliterating career stress. This week the focus is on financial stress.

It?s logical to conclude that financial stress is most significantly tied to career stress (or Job Security), after all, there is very little money if one is unemployed.

Looking at recent statistics According to Cato Institute, The American Welfare State, April 11, 2012,: Forty-six million Americans live in poverty. That accounts for 15.1 percent of Americans which is the highest level in nearly a decade. Since Obama took office, federal expenditures on welfare have increased by 41 percent, more than $ 193 billion per year.

In another release, the jobless rate in the Euro area reached it?s highest on records dating to 1995 as the debt crisis and deepening economic slump prompted companies to cut jobs.

Unemployment in the economy of the 17 nations using the Euro reached a revised 11.2 percent in May and held at that level in June.

Drought, foreclosures, housing price declines are also at an all-time high as are the cost of goods and standard living expenses as well. We are all making less money or none at all and are burdened by the increasing cost of living.

This is so far reaching that our children are being impacted. Now we have learned that 3 out of every 10 New Yorkers between the ages of 25 and 30 are living with their parents. Inceptia reported that students are being forced to reduce their course load to deal with stressors, including the cost of education and need to repay loans.

We are all impacted one way or another by these horrific numbers and yet ? consumer spending is steady. Yes, people are saving more ? but they also need to spend less.

Happiness should not come at a price. We need to build awareness of this and stop being a part of the statistical nightmares researchers and study groups continue to flood us with.

Freethinking Renegade Awareness Month, challenges the world to stop for just a few days and take inventory of what is really happening in our lives. We need to bring awareness to how we perceive our personal status in life and business, and why. We need to ask ourselves what we are doing to create our problems, what we are not doing to fix them, how we can break our intrinsically bad habits in order to reprogram ourselves for more euphoric levels of happiness and success.

Founder of FTRNation.com, Brian Grasso says ?We all have it in us to live a life of ecstasy; a life of truly profound bliss ? as long as we are aware.?

If we do not build our awareness from a systemic level (looking at our hearts, minds, body and SOUL as a collective unit ? where one feeds the other) we will not and can not get there. Simply ?acting? aware as opposed to digging deep inside and being aware from a core level would be the equivalent to treating a symptom of a bigger problem with pharmaceutical drugs. It?s a band-aid effect. We need to break through to the root cause first. Depending on our age, there are many areas to focus on, but we must all start somewhere.

Brian concedes that ?This is why we led with Career Stress for Awareness Month and are now targeting financial stress. It?s a symptom of something far greater for everyone, however, it infects billions of people around the globe.?

Much like the preaching?s of Deepak Chopra or Mahatma Ghandi ? Brian?s message is clear. We control our own destiny. We simply need to be believe it and take responsibility for it.

To learn more about how you can become aware and begin reduce your financial stress visit http://ftrnation.com/financial-stress-1/

Law Backs Development Of New

(PRWEB) July 13, 2012

A new law signed into effect by President Obama this week is expected to assist researchers in developing new antibiotics for the most difficult to treat bacteria infections. Called the GAIN Act (Generating Antibiotics Incentives Now), the law provides incentives for companies to develop completely new antibiotics that can treat the most challenging bacterial infections that have become resistant to current treatments.

The law was passed to address an anticipated shortfall of new antibiotics. Few have been developed over the last decade as drug companies concluded that there were more profitable areas in which to focus their research. But the emergence of resistant organisms has alarmed infectious disease experts from around the world. The GAIN act provides financial and other incentives to bring drug makers back into the market, developing newer antibiotics to address resistant pathogens.

Radnor, PA-based PolyMedix is one company that hopes to benefit from the GAIN Act, which would give companies accelerated FDA approval, longer exclusivity and increased FDA guidance to reduce clinical study timelines. ?The GAIN Act provides companies like PolyMedix with an opportunity for priority access to the FDA for dialogue, clear clinical objectives and predictable timetables that should make antibiotic drug development more efficient and valuable for investors,? commented Nicholas Landekic, President and CEO of PolyMedix. ?This is landmark legislation that should help insure we have the drugs needed to combat todays, and tomorrows, most dangerous pathogens.?

The GAIN Act would provide incentives for companies to develop qualified infectious disease products that treat bacterial infections that have become resistant to current treatments. PolyMedix, for instance, is developing brilacidin in mid-stage studies to combat methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It would be the first of a new class of antibiotics called defensin-mimetics that imitates the mechanism of human immunity, exploiting a method of killing bacteria that has never led to resistance.

The new law could also encourage faster development of treatments for other bacterial infections including vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus and enterococcus, multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacteria Acinetobacter, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas, and E. coli species, multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, and Clostridium difficile.

Fda Finds Zmax Side Effects

New York, New York (PRWEB) July 10, 2012

Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a New York law firm nationally recognized for its consumer protection and mass tort practices, reports that on June 19, 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (?FDA?) sent a warning letter to Pfizer, criticizing the company for downplaying or omitting serious Zmax side effects in a promotional brochure. Pfizer manufactures the popular antibiotic Zmax, commonly known as Zithromax or Z-Pak. According to the FDA letter, the brochure:

????Omits and minimizes important risk information;
????Makes unsubstantiated superiority claims;
????Omits material facts;
????Broadens the indication for drug use;
????Makes misleading efficacy claims; and
????Makes unsubstantiated claims for Zmax.

The FDA also noted that the company presented the limited risks and warnings in the brochure in a misleadingly minimizing format by placing Zithromax risks in obscure locations, in block paragraph format without headings or signifiers to bring to the attention of the reader.

Misleading Brochure Omits Possible Zmax Side Effects

Moreover, the FDA determined that the brochure fails to warn readers about the risk of Zithromax heart risks, such as QT prolongation, which may cause cardiac arrhythmia and torsades de pointes, potentially fatal heart problems. Another Zithromax risk left out in the brochure is a serious allergic reaction called Stevens-Johnson syndrome (?SJS?). Other misleading claims and omitted facts include the inaccurate suggestion that Zithromax is a more effective antibiotic in dosage and that the drug can treat a broader array of ailments than it is approved to treat.

The FDA ordered Pfizer to stop distributing the Zithromax brochure and required a response from the company by July 3, 2012. A Pfizer official stated that the company stopped using the brochure prior to receiving the FDA notice.

Zmax side effects have been the center of mounting concern after a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine on May 17, 2012 found an increased risk of sudden death from cardiac events in patients taking azithromycin, especially those already suffering from a cardiovascular condition.* At that time, the FDA announced that it would launch its own investigation into Zithromax risks and communicate its findings upon completion.** Pfizer conducted its own review of Zithromax risks on May 21, 2012.

The lawyers at Bernstein Liebhard LLP are currently investigating claims on behalf of individuals who experienced Zithromax side effects. Individuals who experienced Zmax side effects such as heart problems may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and other injuries. To learn more about Zithromax lawsuits, watch this Zmax side effects video or visit our website, http://www.consumerinjurylawyers.com.

Marijuana And Other Forms Of

Marijuana and Other Forms of Cannabis

Marijuana is a mixture of the crushed leaves and flowering tops of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). The plant contains a substance called THC (tetrahydrocannabinal) that has a combination of psychoactive properties which defy simple categorization. It produces euphoria and release from inhibition much like the depressant alcohol; the relaxation or even fatigue of a sedative; and hypnotic, sensory, and perceptual distortions like a mild hallucinogen (which ordinarily increases wakefulness). This is why marijuana and other cannabis drugs are treated as a unique category of psychoactive substance in the latest revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM III (1980). The various forms of cannabis differ chiefly in their concentration of THC. Of the natural forms of cannabis, marijuana is the least potent, and hashish (pure plant resin) the most potent. Recently an almost pure form of THC has been artificially synthesized in the laboratory.

Cannabis is most frequently taken by smoking it in a cigarette or pipe. It can also be eaten (Alice B. Toklas, a friend of the poet Gertrude Stein, is said to have baked delicious marijuana brownies). At low dosages, most users quickly develop a feeling of relaxed euphoria. Some become more talkative, while others become quiet and contemplative. Many describe their perceptions and sensory experiences as intensified and unusual. Previously unnoticed colors and sounds become vivid and important. Space and forms may appear distorted, and time slows. However, while many people feel only pleasant or interesting effects, others become anxious and irritable. The particular pattern of one's reactions depends a great deal on the particular situation and the behavior of those who are nearby.

There are physical symptoms as well. The eyes redden as blood vessels dilate, the mouth dries as saliva flow is inhibited, and the heart beats faster; appetite often increases.

As more THC enters the bloodstream, the user feels more and more drowsy. Speech may become slurred and thinking distorted. Things may seem hysterically funny and inspire long spells of giggling. Finally, the user falls into a deep sleep.

For many centuries, cannabis was used in Asia as an anesthetic and medication for maladies ranging from insomnia to rheumatism. In the mid-nineteenth century, Western European doctors began to prescribe it for neuralgia, menstrual pain, and migraine headaches. In the early twentieth century, its medical use was widely promoted in the United States by the drug company Parke-Davis. By the 1930s, however, doctors were prescribing such other drugs as morphine, aspirin, and barbiturates instead.
Marijuana began to be used simply for pleasure and was distributed illegally.

This period was marked by progressively harsher antidrug laws, and by 1937, marijuana, incongruously lumped with opium and heroin, was completely outlawed. During the 1960s marijuana use underwent a resurgence, with growing recognition that the harsh legal penalties seemed inconsistent with its apparent low level of danger, The National Survey of Drug Abuse (1979) reported that during 1979 more than 26 million Amercans icons used cannabis at least once, including 31 percent of adolescents under 18 (10 percent of all high-school seniors), 68 percent of individuals between 18 and 25, and 20 percent of those over 26. It is clear that earlier efforts to characterize cannabis as a "killer weed'' were counterproductive exaggerations. Concerning its safety, however, real doubts still remain. Some evidence suggests that it is addictive.

Chronic users may develop tolerance (Nowland & Cohen, 1977) and experience withdrawal symptoms such as loss of appetite, running nose, diarrhea, and sweating (Jones, 1977). Also, the potency of illegally obtained cannabis has increased, and there are more instances of accidents related to cannabis intoxication (Marijuana Research Findings, 1980). Longer-term dangers may include susceptibility to lung disease (Tashkin, Calvarese, & Simmons, 1978) and reduced fertility (Hembree, Nabias, & Huang, 1979).
